Sewer construction, masonry construction: Demolished concrete block and mortar drain basis that is being replaced with another. Broken up and excavated by a backhoe-excavator. West entrance to Huron High School on Huron Parkway, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 2005.
Worker builds drain basin for storm sewer using portland cement mortar and curved concrete blocks. Mortar is mixed in mixer and transported in white plastic bucket (lower left). Worker first uses his hands to take mortar from bucket and place it on concrete block. He then places concrete blocks in mortar. Lastly, he spreads mortar over the inside surface of the drainage basin. A drain basin is where storm water draining from stree (such as through corrugated black plastic flexible tubing) flows into the main storm sewer. Huron Parkway, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 2005.
