Precast concrete construction, bridge constrruction: Kenworth truck tractor pulls a 120 ft long precast, pretensioned prestressed bridge girder from Grand Rapids, MI, to the Dixboro Bridge site. The red trailer with 3 axles supporting the far end of the girder is an Elk River Hydras Steer trailer attached to the end of the bridge girder. It includes steering, as demonstrated by its alignment to the left in photo, as well as brakes, all controlled by the truck driver in the pulling tractor, using control cables running on top of the girder from tractor to trailer. Dixboro Bridge over Huron River, Ann Arbor, MI, 2005.
