My Construction Photos > Austin grader: The earliest motorized graders consisted of grader attachments mounted on modified crawler and industrial wheel tractors. This design was made obsolete by later machines that were built from the ground up as motor graders, rather than as modifications to or attachments for other types of machines. This machine consists of a McCormick-Deering 10-20 wheel tractor with an Austin Manufacturing grader attachment. It is an ancestor to the famous Austin-Western line of motor graders. Museum volunteers restored her in stages in 2003 and 2006. Historical Construction Equipment Museum, Bowling Green, Ohio, 2007. (Caption by HCEA)
My Construction Photos > Airplane view of Woodrow Wilson Bridge construction project, looking from west to east, wiith the bridge carrying the Capital Beltway US495 and the Potomac River it spans in the center. The bridge shows three distinct segments. On the left are remains of the two lane westbound segment of the old bridge, not yet fully dismantled. In the center, dark in color, is the four lane westbound segment under construction. On the right are the four lanes of the new eastbound segment, currently carrying two lanes each way until the new westbound segment is completed. At photo bottom is the highway interchange between Route 1 and Capital Beltway I 95/495 with scheduled completion in 2008. The Beltway intersects I 295 at the far end of the bridge and Maryland 210 at photo top. All of these interchanges are part of the overall project. November, 2006.

Route 1 is East/West, shown horizontal in photo and US95/495 is North/South, shown vertical. Part of Woodrow Wilson Bridge project. Alexandria, Virginia, November, 2006.
My Construction Photos > Earth moving construction: Bobcat 863 skid-steer tractor with stone separating blade/bucket lifts and sifts soil to extract and separate stones. Operator is picking out and tossing away soil clumps that sifted out with stones. Dixboro Bridge, Ann Arbor, MI, 2004.
My Construction Photos > Construction safety: Placing brick pavers as part of new brick pavement. Workers are kneeling on curb, gutter, and pavement of street carrying traffic, yet they have no traffic warning barriers or signs, no highly visible orange or striped clothing, and no traffic control to protect themselves from moving traffic. Ann Arbor, 2004.

My Construction Photos > Bridge construction site: Lower half of photo is south ramp of Dixboro Bridge to cross the Huron River. Upper half is the North approach, and in the distance is the intersection of Dixboro Rd with Geddes Rd. In mid-photo are tops of concrete bridge piers with foundations in the river bottom. Dump trucks are bringing fill soil from which ramp is being built. We can see the raised truck bed of one dump truck in right center of photo. In order to dump soil, it decoupled from its tandem trailer, which waits at far right center. Ann Arbor, MI, 2002.
My Construction Photos > Earthmoving, road construction: John Deere 670CH motor grader rough grades soil base in preparation for soil compacting roller. South approach from Huron River Drive onto Dixboro Bridge over Huron River. Ann Arbor, Michigan 2005.
