My Construction Photos > Cab of Manitowoc 4000W 150 ton track mounted lattice boom crane with flying jib. Construction site for addition to university dormitory. Crane and its cab, including rear counterweights, can rotate 360 degrees. Note the metal rods extending from brackets on the end track drive rollers, to which yellow caution tape has been attached to mark the rotating counterweight hazard area. Mosher Jordan Renovation and New Dining Center, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, March 2007.

My Construction Photos > Steel erection fall protection: Structural steel ironworker on left has fall protection from full body harness attached to safety lanyard attached to steel cable loop/sling around girder as he moves from left to right along wide flange structural steel girderl Here, he liftis cable loop/sling past steel plate attachment that will support far end of a steel floor beam/joist. Ironworker on right his apparently without fall protection, with one safety lanyard attached from cable loop/sling that hangs loose and other end attached to lower ring on his body harness. However, his second lanyard could be attached to a sliding beam flange anchor attached to top flange of girder. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. January, 2007.

Fall protection provided by full body harness attached to safety lanyard attached to steel cable loop/sling around beam. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. January, 2007.
My Construction Photos > Concrete construction safety: Bobcat 763 skid steer tractor with pavement breaker attachment. Note the cockpit safety approach to provide equipment operator with roll-over protection and protection from side or rear impact with hostile construction environment. The operator is provided excellent visibility, in place of barrier type protection to his front, to deliver quality with productivity and safety. The operator is exposed to an extreme eye safety hazard by his failure to wear eye protection against chipped concrete. Massachusetts, 2002.
My Construction Photos > Masonry construction safety, fall hazard: Laborer/ hod carrier stands on top of 3 ft high unstable stack of concrete block and 19 ft above ground, leaning out and stacking heavy blocks, with no fall protection from safety line or guardrail. Ann Arbor, 2004.
My Construction Photos > Masonry construction safety, fall hazard: Laborer/ hod carrier stands on top of 6 ft high unstable stack of concrete block and 19 ft above ground, leaning out and stacking heavy blocks, with no fall protection from safety line or guardrail. Ann Arbor, 2004.
My Construction Photos > Construction safety: Fall Hazard: Two workers at 20+ foot height and wearing body harnesses and lanyards work without tying off to safety line. Unsafe and against the law. Ann Arbor, 2004.
My Construction Photos > Construction Stepladder: It is unsafe and illegal to use a step ladder as a straight ladder, because that is not its intended purpose. Step ladder feet are designed to be safe when ladder is opened, not when closed and leaning against wall. Also, ladder must extend 3 ft above its step off point, so climber does not have awkward dismount shown here. Ann Arbor, 2004.
