Champion worker and material construction elevator ready for worker to enter on the 4th floor. Elevator car has gates at each end, one of which slides up and the other slides down, so worker can enter. Here the gates toward building are opened for worker to enter, and the gates away from buildings are closed until car is at bottom and workers leave and enter using the gates at back of car. The two-pulley cathead sits atop elevator tower, with one end of cable attached to car and the other attached to counterweight. is at bottom, and worker is just opening bottom door to leave car. Elevator counterweight is at top of the mast until car begins its next assent. The two pulley cathead on top of the mast balances the up and down movement of car with the down and up movement of the counterweight.
