My Construction Photos > Austin grader: The earliest motorized graders consisted of grader attachments mounted on modified crawler and industrial wheel tractors. This design was made obsolete by later machines that were built from the ground up as motor graders, rather than as modifications to or attachments for other types of machines. This machine consists of a McCormick-Deering 10-20 wheel tractor with an Austin Manufacturing grader attachment. It is an ancestor to the famous Austin-Western line of motor graders. Museum volunteers restored her in stages in 2003 and 2006. Historical Construction Equipment Museum, Bowling Green, Ohio, 2007. (Caption by HCEA)

Bowl has been lowered so its cutting edge cuts soil, and scraper apron at front of bowl has been lifted. Therefore, the bowl fills with soil as scraper moves with asistance of dozer pushing it forward. The Courtyards private dormitory, North Campus, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. 2007.

Protruding from piers are rebars, in circular pattern in piers, and 4 anchor bolts for column base plates. The rebars will be cut off before base plates and columns are set. heavy copper wire also protrudes from top of piers that is also attached to an electric ground plate in soil at bottom of footing. My Construction Photos > Earthmoving, aggregate construction: Large 5+ CY/CM Hendrix draining dragline bucket is operated by Liebherr HS 895 HD Litronic hydraulic open lattice boom 91,000 kg / 400,000 lb capacity crawler crane. A dragline bucket is controlled by three elements: The vertical wire rope above the bucket raises and lowers the bucket either with or independent of the boom raising/lowering. The chain from front of bucket is pulled in and let out by the wire rope operated by a front spindle. The short wire rope attached to the top-front of bucket allows the bucket to pitch front first into the excavation pit, then be pulled upward at end of loading to capture the load. The basic operation is to pull in a load, then release the bucket to swing forward and be lowered to capture the next load. CONEXPO, Las Vegas, Nevada, March 15-19, 2005.
