concrete form, reinforce, shore, erect, prestress, precast, demolition
Concrete construction: Tying reinforcing steel (resteel) bars (rebars) for reinforced concrete bridge deck. Resteel is coated with green colored epoxy to resist corrosion from winter road salting. Rebars are placed in top and bottom of slab, both longitudinal (along length of bridge deck) and transverse (across deck). Rebars are tied at intersections to provide support and hold them in place until concrete is cast around them for bridge deck. The reinforcing ironworker (clockwise from bottom) loops wire around rebars, pulls it tight, twists it, and cuts off the ends using end grip, side cut pliers (see detail). Ironworker pulls tie wire reel attached to his belt on his left hip. Broadway Bridge, Ann Arbor, 2003.
